Opening the weekend was the promised World Premier of Shaky Gonzalez' 'One Hell of a Christmas' with the man himself in attendance to intro and discuss his movie.

The Saturday kicked off with a lunchtime screening of 'American Nightmare'and was followed by Cutting Edge, our short film competition, which was ultimately won by Damien Chemin's outstanding 'Comptine' which is featured in the debut issue of 'Lighthouse' magazine. Next up were Tenkwaku Naniwa's shorts - Miss Greeny, Subway Jap and Hello Kitty. No, you didn't dream them - the jelly, the samurai and the purple submarine of poo were all real :) The Japanese feature 'Pyrokinesis'rounded off the afternoon's viewing.

The early evening show was Michel Leray's short film 'La Toile' and Yuzna's classic 'Society' sponsored by Rough Cut Comics who also launched their title based on this film.

The All-nighter started at midnight (of course) and started in style with Stuart Gordon's long-awaited 'Dagon' which was followed up by two shorts -the Health and Safety nightmare vision that was 'Staplerfahrer Klaus', and Christophe van Rompaey's blinding 'Oh My God!'. After that, the Japanese feature 'A Living Hell' and then 'Convent', 'Wishcraft' and a much needed breakfast before closing the all-night session with Argento's 'Non Ho Sonno'.

There wasn't much time for sleep before a Sunday lunchtime screening of 'Arachnid' and then the short 'Leatherface Speaks' before our Guest of Honour Herschell Gordon Lewis took to the stage to introduce a screening of his classic 'Blood Feast' followed by the premier of its sequel (after a mere 39 year wait) of 'Blood Feast 2: All U Can Eat'.

The early evening show was the Korean short 'Anatomy Class' followed by the Japanese feature 'St John's Wort' and then the festival finally closed with the glorious 'Dog Soldiers'.

My thanks to everyone who made it along, and helped to make it such a fun weekend! See you in 2003!
